‘Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. ‘
Acts 1:6-7
At times.
I can be impatient.
I want to rush through every stage.
To discover what’s next in my life.
For over 15 years.
I have served in the US Army.
And the Army has a saying.
“Hurry up and wait”.
Which means.
You will move with urgency.
To accomplish a task.
But.
You will wait until leadership is ready.
To check it.
And release you for the day.
It drove me crazy.
Why wake up early?
And rush to do something.
Just to wait for hours.
For it to be inspected.
I’m learning.
Our Father in heaven.
Does the same.
He knows the times and seasons.
And He will inspect us daily.
But we won’t know when.
In the scripture above.
Jesus instructed His disciples.
To not worry about when.
Or what’s next.
In the next verse, He states why.
‘But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”’
Acts 1:8
Because their job.
Was to be a witness.
All over the world.
Jesus is our example.
And He has given us simple instructions.
Be a witness.
All over the world.
